Best Digital Photography
The Key to Successful Digital Photography
The best digital photography can be achieved using a combination of creativity, skill and technical knowledge. First, as with any type of photography, it is important to obtain a unique “look” at the object being shot. More specifically, an unconventional angle, focus on part of the object people generally do not notice, strange surroundings, odd lighting. All of these make for a photograph that will stand out. This is a critical step.
Best Digital Photography – The Camera
The photography must take this artistic skill and entwine it with technical aspects of camera usage. Most digital cameras these days have dozens of settings all of which make photography easier to learn and cater to the artist’s preferences. However, if a photographer really wants to be in control of the shot, he or she can abandon the “auto” mode and start playing with the settings. This takes the photographer back to basic photographic knowledge; altering and experimenting with aperture and film speed, also known as ISO (International Standards Organizations).
Traditionally (with film cameras) aperture is the opening in the lens that lets a certain amount of light in to expose the film. For digital cameras, aperture can be adjusted the same way and it yields the same results, however, there is no film being exposed. In an area with limited amount of light a photographer will want to set aperture on the small “f value”.
This will allow the CDD (charge couple-device) -inside the digital camera-to absorb more of what little light there is. Next, for best digital photography, the photographer will want to adjust the ISO. This is really simple to do with digital cameras and there is usually always an ISO button placed in a very visible spot on the camera. ISO is the camera’s sensitivity to light.
In the olden days, the film used for film cameras each had variety of sensitivity to light and the ISO was adjusted accordingly. For best result, however, the ISO setting
should be lower in areas of large amounts of light. This will disallow washing out of colors as a result of camera’s high sensitivity to the great amount of light it is taking in. Having a firm grasp of these simple concepts and keeping an artist’s eye out for unique situations, angles, colors and lights, can allow for great digital photography.
One Last Step
There is however, one last step. The same technology that allows for digital photography, also made computers and photo editing programs available. Photoshop is just one example of this. Using these programs, a photographer can remove noise, enhance color and contrast, alter lighting and fix blemishes. Combining these ideas and concepts and being resourceful can allow an artist to practice the best digital photography.
